Postdoctoral Scholar Risk- and Decision Analysis to Inform Flood-Risk Management at The Pennsylvania State University

The Earth and Environmental Systems Institute (EESI) at The Pennsylvania State University invites applications for a Postdoctoral Scholar position focusing on the analysis of flood risks and strategies to manage these risks. The successful candidate will join a transdisciplinary research team supported by funding from sponsors such as The Department of Energy (DOE) and The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). The ideal candidate will have a strong background in a relevant discipline such as applied mathematics, statistics, atmospheric science, geosciences, civil and environmental engineering, or operations research. A Ph.D. in a relevant field is required by the start date. The Postdoctoral Scholar will have considerable freedom to collaboratively design the research within the scope of projects relevant to the team’s efforts. Example projects include the analysis of the dynamics of coupled natural-human systems with the associated deep and dynamic uncertainties, quantification of flood hazards, and the quantification of trade-offs associated with climate risk management.  Examples of current projects and relevant publications are provided at https://personal.ems.psu.edu/~kzk10/.
