Postdoctoral Researcher – National Institute for Risk and Resilience at the University of Oklahoma

The National Institute for Risk and Resilience at the University of Oklahoma invites applications for our postdoctoral researcher position in survey research, quantitative data analysis, and statistics.

Position Description: This position will assist with various ongoing research that relates to risk and public policy in the US. Projects may focus on weather and climate risks; public health risks; energy and environmental risks; and education risks. The position will assist with all aspects of the data lifecycle, ranging from collection, cleaning, storage, and management to analysis, visualization, and scientific reporting. If appropriate, the position may also assist in teaching undergraduate and graduate courses. This is a grant funded position with an initial term of 1 year, with the possibility for extension for a 2nd year, contingent upon the continued receipt of these funds. Position begins fall 2021 and is open until filled.

Job Duties:
• Collect, clean, and manage a wide variety of text and quantitative data.
• Analyze quantitative data using a variety of statistical methods.
• Analyze text data using a variety of content analysis methods.
• Prepare research results for presentation in multiple venues, including conferences, government reports, and academic articles.

Education and Experience: Requires a Ph.D. with an emphasis in survey research, quantitative data analysis, and statistics.

Additional Requirements:
• Experience with survey research analysis and/or text analysis.
• Knowledge of R and data visualization packages.
• Experience writing policy briefs and working with government organizations.

Preferred:
• Ability to obtain entry to national laboratories or federal agency locations with proof of citizenship, passport, or driver’s license.
