We are excited to announce the 12th Annual Conference of the Society for Decision Making Under Deep Uncertainty (DMDU), taking place from 17th – 20th November 2025, hosted by Loughborough University and University College London. The event will take place in London, United Kingdom, at Loughborough University London.
This year’s theme:
“Navigating a Fractured Future: DMDU for a World in Flux”
From shifting global power dynamics and rising geopolitical tensions, to the accelerating impacts of climate change and the rapid emergence of artificial intelligence, today’s decision makers are operating in an environment defined by profound and persistent uncertainty. These overlapping disruptions are not only transforming how we govern, trade, and collaborate—but also how we model, anticipate, and act.
In this year’s meeting, we invite the DMDU community to explore how our methods can support decision makers facing these seismic shifts. In particular, we will focus on:
- How can DMDU approaches bridge the gap between complex modeling and actionable decisions, especially in contexts involving high stakes and limited foresight?
- How should DMDU integrate artificial intelligence into its suite of methods? What are the opportunities and risks of this convergence?
- How do we communicate uncertainty amid polycrisis, in which climate change, technology, and geopolitics intersect?
- How should we convey outputs, bring decision makers into the modeling process, and achieve balance between rigor and accessibility?
We welcome submissions that address methodological advances, innovative applications, and real-world collaborations—particularly those that push the boundaries of how DMDU can be applied in this new global context.
