Dear DMDU members,

We are excited to announce the Call for Proposals for the 11th Annual Conference of the Society for Decision Making Under Deep Uncertainty (DMDU) which will take place from November 19th to 21st. It will be hosted by University of Denver in Colorado, USA, with support from the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation. The theme of this year’s conference is “Bridging the gap between modeling and decisions: how can DMDU techniques better support decision makers?”. We invite you to submit your proposals by June 15th and hope to see many of you in Denver.

This year, we would like to emphasize the simplification and translation of DMDU modeling results in a way that is digestible and actionable by decision makers. While DMDU techniques are built for decision support, there is still a gap between the modeling process and the world of decision makers. Do we need to simplify results at the cost of completeness or nuance? Do we need to better embed decision makers in the modeling process, and if so, how? How do we build compelling narratives that translate the sometimes complex results and implications of DMDU methods into more readily accessible formats?

We welcome submissions for presentations, panel discussions, full sessions, or posters related to these topics or any other aspect of decision-making under deep uncertainty. Proposals should include:
· Format (full session/panel discussion or individual talk/poster)
· Title of your presentation or session
· An abstract of up to 250 words, describing the content and objectives of your presentation or session
· A brief biography of the presenter(s), including name(s), affiliation(s), and contact information
· Keywords to describe the main theme, to be chosen from a given list
· For session proposals: Specify considerations for diversity and inclusion

Please submit your proposal via this form by June 15th, 2024. All submissions will be reviewed by our organizing committee, and we will notify you of the outcome by July 31st.

We look forward to receiving your proposals and to your participation in this event. Should you have any questions or require further information, please do not hesitate to contact us at deepuncertainty@gmail.com.

Sincerely,
The Program Committee
